Links closely to women’s health, hormone blood tests and specialist referrals.
Why Patients Book
Why patients usually book fertility tests
- Trying to conceive and want to check ovarian reserve
- Irregular or absent periods
- Pre-conception planning or egg freezing preparation
- PCOS investigation
- Male fertility concerns
- Wanting faster access than NHS fertility pathways
- Second opinion before IVF or other treatment
What the Tests Cover
What the appointment covers
Your GP will review your history, cycle, any previous investigations and what you are hoping to find out. Blood tests may include AMH (ovarian reserve), FSH, LH, oestradiol, progesterone, thyroid function and other markers depending on your situation.
Your GP will explain what the results mean and whether specialist referral to fertility services, gynaecology or endocrinology would be helpful. The aim is to give you a clearer picture, not just data.
“GP-led fertility blood tests with clear interpretation and next steps. Not just a panel of numbers — your GP will explain what the results mean.”

When to seek urgent emergency care instead
A private GP appointment is appropriate for many acute illnesses and new concerns, but it is not a substitute for emergency care.
If you or someone you are with has severe chest pain, difficulty breathing, signs of stroke, heavy bleeding, sudden confusion, loss of consciousness, a seizure, or severe allergic symptoms — call 999 or go to A&E. For everything else that needs prompt but non-emergency medical attention, a same-day private GP appointment is a sensible place to start.

Yes. Where further investigation or treatment is needed, your GP can arrange a specialist referral to fertility services, gynaecology or reproductive endocrinology.
