Some patients come to Basuto from time to time and prefer to book appointments as needed. Others choose membership because they want something more consistent — easier access to care, continuity with a named GP, and the reassurance of an ongoing relationship with the practice.
For those using the practice more regularly, membership can make ongoing care more consistent, with easier access to a named GP and clearer follow-up. It suits patients who value priority booking, clear expectations around what is included, and the confidence that comes from knowing where they stand.
At Basuto Medical Centre, we set out membership terms, appointment access and what is included as clearly as possible so patients can decide which option suits them.

WHY BASUTO
How the Practice Works
Basuto Medical Centre is an established, CQC-regulated private GP practice in Parsons Green. Our practice is structured around prompt access, adequate consultation time and clear clinical follow-through: patients should be able to access experienced medical care quickly, have enough time to explain what is going on properly, and leave knowing what happens next.
01
Same-day, where possible
Prompt access is one of the main reasons patients choose private GP care. We aim to keep same-day appointments available for concerns that should not be left to drift.
02
Thirty-minute consultations
Enough time to take a proper history, examine where needed, answer questions and explain the next step clearly.
03
Prescriptions & referrals included
Prescriptions and referral letters can usually be arranged during the same appointment where clinically appropriate.
04
Your NHS GP stays the same
Using Basuto does not affect your NHS registration. Many patients use private GP care alongside NHS services.
“Finally found a GP practice that actually gives you time. Dr Al-Saraf listened to everything without rushing — same-day appointment, prescription sorted immediately.”

Common Questions
Membership FAQ
Who is membership best for?
Patients and families who value continuity, priority booking, and regular GP access. If you expect to use the practice more than once or twice a year, membership usually offers better value and convenience.
What happens when I have used all 10 appointments?
You have two options. You can add the Unlimited appointments add-on (+£30/month) to remove the appointment cap entirely, which is recommended for chronic conditions or families with young children. Alternatively, you can book additional appointments at the standard single-appointment rate with your 50% membership discount still applied.
What is the cancellation policy?
All membership plans have a 12-month minimum term. After that, you can cancel with 3 months written notice. There is a 14-day cooling-off period from the date you join, during which any consultations used are charged at the standard single-appointment rate.
Can I keep my NHS GP?
Yes. Joining Basuto does not affect your NHS registration. Many of our members use both — Basuto for responsive same-day care and continuity, and the NHS for hospital referrals and specialist pathways.
Is there a joining fee?
No. There is no joining fee, registration fee, or admin charge. You pay the monthly membership fee by direct debit and that is all.
Is there a family discount?
Yes. Register 3 or more family members on membership together and receive a 10% discount on the combined monthly total. You can mix adult and under-16 plans. See our family GP page for details.
Do I need to be a member to book?
No. You can book directly as a single-appointment patient at any time. No registration or membership required. Many patients start with a single consultation and decide from there.
Does my child need their own membership?
Children can have their own Under-16 membership independently — you do not need to be a member yourself. As parent or guardian, you are responsible for registration and monthly payments.
