SAME-DAY
Available
Call before 10am for best availability
Sometimes you know you need to see a doctor the same day. The issue may be new, it may have worsened over several days, or it may simply have reached the point where you want a clear answer without further delay.
At Basuto Medical Centre, we provide same-day private GP appointments in Fulham for adults, children and families who want prompt access to a doctor without reducing the consultation to ten rushed minutes. Standard appointments are 30 minutes, which allows time to take a proper history, examine where needed, and explain what should happen next.
If you need a prescription, referral, medical letter, blood test or follow-up, these can often be arranged as part of the same visit.

Same-Day Access
Same-day access without a rushed consultation
Patients often assume that quick access means a shorter or less thorough appointment. At Basuto, we aim to offer both prompt access and enough time to deal with the issue properly.
Our standard consultations remain 30 minutes. That gives your GP time to ask the right questions, review what has changed, examine you where necessary, and explain their assessment clearly. It also gives you time to ask questions of your own.

What We Can Help With
When a same-day appointment is appropriate
A same-day private GP appointment is often appropriate for acute illnesses, new symptoms and problems that are not emergencies but should not be left to drift.
- Chest infections, sore throats and other acute illnesses
- Urinary symptoms
- Skin infections and flare-ups
- Worsening pain
- Medication issues and urgent prescription needs
- New symptoms that need medical assessment
- Problems that may require blood tests or referral
If an online GP appointment would be sufficient, that can also be discussed. If examination is likely to be important, an in-person visit is usually the better choice.
Your Appointment
What happens during the consultation
Your GP will take a history, review relevant background, examine you where appropriate, and explain what they think is most likely to be happening. Sometimes the next step is reassurance and advice. Sometimes it is treatment. Sometimes it is investigation or onward referral.
The aim is not simply to provide access on the day. It is to make the appointment clinically useful and to ensure that the next step is already underway before you leave.

Important
When to Seek Emergency Care Instead
A same-day private GP appointment is appropriate for many urgent but non-emergency problems. It is not a replacement for 999 or A&E.
If you or someone with you has severe chest pain, significant difficulty breathing, signs of stroke, sudden confusion, loss of consciousness, a seizure, severe allergic symptoms or heavy bleeding, call 999 or go to A&E. For everything else that needs prompt but non-emergency medical attention, a same-day GP appointment is often a sensible place to start.

“I called at 5.15pm, in pain and knowing that I needed antibiotics. In five minutes the receptionist had spoken to the doctor and she called me back for a telephone consultation. By 6pm I had picked up my filled prescription. I simply could not have asked for better service.”
