Dr James Pozzi

Dr Pozzi brings over 30 years of clinical experience to Basuto Medical Centre. Originally trained in Australia, he has practised in UK general practice since 1997 with particular expertise in paediatrics, ENT and psychiatry.

I qualified at the University of Queensland Medical School in Australia in 1992. After completing basic surgical training and then general practice training, I moved to the United Kingdom in 1997 to work in general practice.

Over the years I have developed particular interests in paediatrics, ENT conditions, and psychiatry. These are areas where having a GP who takes the time to assess properly — rather than rushing through a ten-minute appointment — makes a significant difference to diagnosis and treatment.

At Basuto Medical Centre, I see patients of all ages for a wide range of conditions. My Australian training gave me a strong foundation in rural and emergency medicine, which means I am comfortable assessing acute presentations and making decisions about when to investigate further, when to refer, and when reassurance is appropriate.

I believe in straightforward communication. I explain what I think is happening, what I want to rule out, and what the plan is — in plain language.
