CHILD-FRIENDLY
GP-Led Care
Vaccination advice within an established family practice
Childhood immunisations should be part of thoughtful preventive care rather than a standalone transaction. Parents usually want clear advice on timing, catch-up schedules, travel-related considerations and whether a vaccine is clinically appropriate for their child. Questions about timing, catch-up schedules, side effects, travel vaccines, school requirements and what is or is not essential tend to build up quickly.
At Basuto Medical Centre, we provide private childhood immunisations in Fulham for parents who want clear medical advice, a calmer appointment, and the reassurance of discussing vaccinations within an established GP practice rather than a rushed transactional setting.
Whether you are arranging routine protection, catching up on missed vaccines, preparing for travel, or simply want a doctor to talk through the options clearly, we aim to make the process straightforward from the first appointment.

About the Appointment
Private Childhood Immunisations
Some parents book because they know their child is due vaccines and want a private appointment with more time. Others come because something has fallen behind and they want help making sense of what needs catching up. The appointment is not only about giving an injection. It is about understanding your child’s age, previous vaccines, any missed doses, any past reactions, and whether there are wider medical issues that affect the timing or suitability of a particular vaccine.
Because Basuto is an established GP practice, immunisation advice can also sit within a broader picture of your child’s health through our wider paediatrics and private GP services. Parents often tell us that what they value most is clarity.

Your Appointment
What happens at a childhood immunisation appointment?
A good childhood immunisation appointment should feel calm, practical and reassuring.
At the start of the consultation, your doctor will usually review your child’s age, previous vaccine history, any missed doses, relevant medical background and any questions or worries you have. Your GP will then explain which vaccines are due or appropriate, what they protect against, what side effects are common, and what to expect afterwards.
Sometimes the appointment is straightforward and everything can go ahead there and then. Sometimes a catch-up plan needs to be mapped out. Sometimes the main value is discussing options and leaving with a clearer understanding of the schedule. Because appointments are 30 minutes as standard, there is enough time to ask the practical questions that often get missed when things feel rushed.
When Parents Book
Why parents seek private childhood immunisations
Families come to us for childhood vaccines for all sorts of reasons. Some want flexibility around timing. Some want a catch-up plan after missed appointments. Some want travel vaccines or advice before going abroad.

- Catch-up schedules after missed doses
- Immunisations before nursery or school
- Travel-related childhood vaccines
- Discussion of previous vaccine reactions or parental concerns
- Vaccines arranged alongside wider paediatric review

“Parents usually want the same things: clear advice, enough time to ask questions properly, and confidence that their child’s vaccination plan makes sense.”

Routine, Catch-Up and Travel
Helping families make sense of different vaccine needs
Not every family comes in for the same reason. Some are following a routine schedule and simply want to arrange the next step. Others need a catch-up plan because life has been busy, appointments were missed, or they have recently moved from another area or another country. Some are preparing for travel and want to know whether their child needs anything additional before they go.
If you are preparing for a trip, your child’s vaccine plan may also link to our travel clinic. If your child is very young, families may also find it helpful to look at our 6 week baby check and wider paediatrics pages.
Same-day appointments available. Book online or call 020 7736 7557.

Common Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can you help if my child has missed vaccines?
Yes. A private appointment can be very helpful for working out a sensible catch-up plan and understanding what needs doing next.
Do you only provide routine childhood vaccines?
No. We can also discuss catch-up schedules and travel-related vaccines where relevant, particularly alongside our travel clinic.
What if I am not sure what my child has already had?
Bring any records you have. If the information is incomplete, we can still talk through the likely schedule and what the next step may be.
Can I ask questions about side effects and timing?
Yes. That is one of the main reasons many parents choose a private vaccine appointment. There is time to discuss the practical details properly.
Can I book even if we are still registered with our NHS GP?
Yes. You do not need to leave your NHS GP to book childhood immunisations at Basuto.
What if my child is unwell on the day?
Your GP can advise whether the vaccine should go ahead or be delayed, depending on the type of illness and the vaccine involved.
Do you provide wider paediatric follow-up too?
Yes. If your child also needs broader review, you can stay within the same practice through our paediatrics and private GP services.
How do I book?
