When patients look into regenerative treatments, they usually want the same few things: a clear explanation of what the treatment actually is, honest advice on whether it is likely to help, and a practice that looks at the wider picture rather than selling a procedure in isolation.
At Basuto Medical Centre, we provide PRF treatment in Fulham for patients interested in skin rejuvenation or hair restoration, with proper clinical assessment and a clearer view of where the treatment fits within a broader skin or hair plan.
Whether you are exploring PRF for facial rejuvenation, under-eye quality, healing support, or hair thinning, we aim to make the process more straightforward from the first consultation.

About the Practice
What PRF Treatment Involves
Some patients come to us because they have heard about PRF and want to understand whether it is worth considering. Others are comparing it with PRP, skin boosters, microneedling, or more traditional hair loss treatments and want honest medical advice before deciding what to do.
That is one of the strengths of PRF treatment at Basuto Medical Centre. The focus is not simply on the treatment itself. It is on understanding the concern, explaining what PRF can and cannot realistically do, and deciding whether it makes sense as part of a wider plan. For some patients, PRF is most relevant in the context of hair restoration. For others, it sits more naturally alongside broader health screening, blood tests, or private GP review if thinning, shedding, fatigue, hormonal change or nutritional deficiency may also be contributing to the picture.
You do not need to leave your NHS GP to book with us. Some patients use Basuto for a one-off consultation about PRF. Others prefer the continuity of being able to return to the same practice for follow-up, prescriptions, testing or broader treatment review where needed.

WHAT PRF IS
What is PRF treatment?
PRF stands for Platelet-Rich Fibrin. It is a regenerative treatment that uses a concentrated part of your own blood, prepared in a way that preserves platelets, fibrin and growth factors which can then be used as part of a restorative treatment plan.
PRF is a second-generation platelet concentrate prepared from the patient’s own blood. It differs from PRP in how it is processed and in the structure of the fibrin matrix it produces. Patients considering PRF typically want to understand whether it is appropriate for their concern, what results are realistic, and how it compares with other options. Patients often come across PRF while researching PRP. The two are related, but they are not identical. PRF is often described as a next-generation regenerative option because of the way it is prepared and released in tissue over time. What matters more than the terminology, though, is whether it is appropriate for the concern being treated and whether expectations are realistic.
At Basuto, we explain PRF in straightforward language. We do not oversell it, and we do not present it as a miracle treatment. It may be useful in the right patient, for the right reason, and as part of the right overall plan.

“Clearer and more modest than PRP marketing — we explain what the treatment is, who it suits, and where it sits relative to broader skin or hair treatment pathways.”

Your Appointment
What happens at a PRF consultation?
A good PRF consultation should feel clinical, realistic and clear.
At the start of your appointment, your doctor will talk through the concern you want help with, how long it has been present, what changes you have noticed, and what you are hoping treatment may achieve. That may be facial skin quality, under-eye concerns, healing support, or hair thinning and early loss. Your GP will then explain whether PRF is a sensible option, whether something else may be more appropriate, and whether any wider medical review should come first. In hair-related cases, that may include a discussion around hair restoration, blood tests or underlying causes such as thyroid problems, deficiency or hormonal change. In skin-related cases, a broader treatment plan may be discussed depending on the concern.
If PRF is appropriate, your doctor will explain how it works, what the treatment involves, how many sessions may be needed, what recovery is usually like, and what kind of outcome is realistic. What matters is that the appointment helps you understand whether PRF genuinely fits your situation, rather than leaving you to make the decision based on generic marketing claims.

TREATMENT PATHWAYS
How PRF fits into a wider plan
One of the advantages of a smaller, established practice is continuity.
PRF works best when it is not viewed in isolation. In some patients it may form part of a broader hair pathway, particularly alongside hair restoration. In others, it may sit alongside wider GP care if there are overlapping concerns about hormones, nutritional status, thyroid function or general health. That is why PRF at Basuto can also connect with blood tests, health screening, women’s health, men’s health and broader private GP care where appropriate.
The aim is not to overcomplicate things. It is to make sure treatment is grounded in the right diagnosis and the right expectations.

Getting Started
How to get started with PRF treatment
If you are interested in PRF for skin rejuvenation or hair restoration, the first step is a proper consultation. That helps clarify whether PRF is likely to help, whether anything else should be investigated first, and what kind of plan makes sense.
Book your consultation — arrange an in-person appointment online or by phone. Have your assessment — your doctor reviews the concern, explains PRF clearly, and decides whether it is appropriate. Start the right next step — that may include PRF treatment, broader hair restoration planning, blood tests, or follow-up review.

Common Questions
Frequently asked questions
What is PRF treatment used for?
PRF may be used for skin rejuvenation and as part of a hair restoration plan, depending on the patient and the concern being treated.
Is PRF the same as PRP?
No. They are related regenerative treatments, but they are prepared differently. During your consultation, your doctor will explain where PRF sits and whether it is appropriate for you.
Can PRF help with hair thinning?
It may be helpful for some patients as part of a broader hair restoration approach. Where appropriate, this may also involve blood tests or investigation of underlying causes.
Can PRF be used for facial rejuvenation?
Yes, PRF may be used in selected patients who want a regenerative treatment using their own growth factors for skin-related concerns.
Is there much downtime after PRF treatment?
Downtime is usually minimal, although your doctor will explain what to expect based on the area treated and the treatment plan.
Do I need tests before PRF treatment?
Not always, but sometimes they are useful. If hair thinning, fatigue, thyroid symptoms, hormonal change or nutritional issues may be relevant, your doctor may recommend blood tests or wider health screening.
Do I need to register with the practice first?
No. You do not need to register with us to book a PRF consultation, and you can still keep your NHS GP.
How do I get started?
You can book an appointment online or call 020 7736 7557 to arrange a consultation.
